I decided to give this drama a shot after watching Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (check out my review here) because I love Park Bo Young! I’ve actually came across this drama a few times but I was always too big of a wus to watch cause I’m scared of ghosts LOL. If you’re like me where you’re scared of the ghosts and the dark etc, I think you’ll be ok…for the most part…haha. I would suggest maybe watching it in the morning or with someone else as some parts did freak me out. Sometimes I watched before bed and would watch something funny to get it out of my head.
Ok onto the review…I really liked the storyline of this drama! I thought it was very clever and intriguing (I binge watched and finished in 3 days :3) I haven’t seen any other drama like this and I found myself liking all of the characters (except the antagonist of course). I’m glad they introduced the crux of the drama early on so we can start to figure out things ourselves and aren’t blind sighted the whole time. The father’s story was also so sad and someone was definitely cutting onions when we heard more of his story. This drama definitely makes you start thinking about your relationships in life and what you want to do with your time. As for the chemistry, I thought it was ok but it wasn’t like amazing amazing. They were definitely cute and I really liked their kiss scenes but I don’t know… I just wasn’t that into them 😦
The reason I gave this a 9 star was because towards the end, I felt like there were a lot of filler parts that did not need to be there. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked the kitchen staff but when they randomly came up during the parts that were intenseee, I was like oh cmon… and skipped those parts 😡 . I will explain the other reason I gave this a 9 star below (spoiler alert!)
I really liked Kim Seul Gi’s acting… seriously gave me so many feels at the end when we found out her story. The pain in her eyes was so relatable when she was taken away and calling her dad. She’s also sooo funny. But I felt like she took over Park Bo Young’s body soo much that it didn’t feel like Park Bo Young’s character had much development herself. It was like she just suddenly started becoming more lively. I think I would’ve liked to see her own interaction with the Chef and the ghost more. However I commend Park Bo Young’s acting once again as she was able to pull off the two personalities soooo well and flip flop between them! I also think the Chef’s character actually did start liking the ghost but of course they made it like ‘oh he actually already like Park Bo Young from the start’ kinda thing.
***END SPOILER ALERT***
Feel free to start an open discussion about this drama in the comments below ^_^ I’d love to discuss the plot, delve deeper into the storyline, etc!
